Go-Gakujin
Also known as Go-sensei by his friends, he is one of the IPO’s greatest scientists and chief scientist of the Beijing Branch. He is the only one who has established a friend-to-friend relationship with Nakajo-Cho. Although his calm and demure manners are that of a medieval courtier of imperial China, one should not be fooled. He is a master in the “Tessensu” (”Iron Fan”) martial art and fights with consumate skill. He knows professor Shizuma and is a great admirer of his work. After Shizuma•s death, Go-sensei tries to find a solutino to stop Big Fire, but up to now, his research has not been successful.
Tetsugyu
Taiso’s best friend and very nearly (Taiso is stronger) the strongest Expert of the IPO, Tetsugyu was recruited at the age of twelve and has been fighting crime ever since. He is not an intellectual and would rather bash his way through a problem than think about it. His enthusiasm for combat is without limit and he is a master of “Kiko Senpu” (”Spiritual Force Hurricane”), which he uses for his favorite attack, “Black Whirlwind”. Tetsugyu is very much in love with Ginrei, but she does not want to hear of him. His relation with Daisaku is rather tense because of Ginrei’s attentions for the boy. Tetsugyu is very courageous, but he cries fiercely when he learns of Taiso’s death.
Chief Nakajo
The 45 year old director of the Beijing IPO branch, Chief Nakajo seems to be unflappable, whatever happens. He always seems to be in control of both himself and the situation. That is indeed a good thing, with Taiso and Tetsugyu hanging around. He is a good friend of Go-sensei, but tries to remain distant with the other Experts. Althrough he has not shown any special powers so far, it is suspected that he can pack quite a wallop! In Episode Four, he tries to help Go-sensei discover what exactly is going on with the Shizuma Drives.
Ko-Enshaku
Who is this armored man? Some have suggested that he is a robot or an android, others a demon or a ghost, but, so far, there are no answers. He follows orders from Big Fire’s leader (who is not known at this time). He is despised by the other Big Fire agents, who believe that he is an observer for the leader. His special powers are running like the wind, stopping bullets, etc. He fights with whips.
Professor Franken von Fogler
A brilliant scientist, prof. von Fogler was, in the beginning, a good man who wanted to help humanity. However, Professor Shizuma drove him too hard and von Fogler went mad. All indicates that he was the one who provoked the Bashytalle tragedy by starting the giant drive too soon. It was thought that he died in the explosion, but he has reappeared lately, causing a panic. It is later discovered that it is his son Genya who uses his likeness to further his own plans. Prof. von Fogler also had a daughter: Ginrei!
Professor Shizuma
Nobel prize winner and savior of humanity. Quite an honorable title for the man who drove one of his collaborators to madness. Professor Shizuma knows what he has created and the power it has if used by the wrong people. He is terrified by the appearances of Prof. von Fogler and considers himself responsible for the tragedy that will happen. Professor Shizuma dies at the end of Episode Two of Giant Robo, at last rid of his guilt.
